b'Page 9Surrey Training GroupsDecember Meeting On Wednesday 11th December, we held our last Surrey Training Group meeting of the year with our Group Training Officer, Belinda Jones, at our CISTC training centre at the Natta Head Office. It was a pleasure to welcome our members back. The Meeting began with group business, giving the attendees the opportunity to network and reconnect. We shared the latest updates from Surrey Training Group. Safety & Access Presentation George Gilbert from Safety & Access Ltd presented to the group and provided an overview of the services the company offers. Founded in 1991 in Nottingham, they offer a range of services, including ConstructionIndustry Scaffolders Record Schemes, independent scaffolding inspections and scaffolding consultancyadvice. He explained about an upcoming piece of new technology called the Smart Safety Helmets, with built in cameras. They are especially useful when working at height on site. Today, they recognise themselves as one of the leading providers of scaffolding and work-at-height training and consultancy services.CITB Updates After the coffee break, Amy Cooke and Steve Aluko-Olokun delivered important updates from Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). They discussed important upcoming changes to the CSCS labourer card. They explained about the Employer Networks, an initiative set up by themselves, where companies can benefit from up to 70% of training. CITB work with local training providers. The aim is to simplify the way companies get support and funding to access the training you need.Belinda then opened the floor to any questions, allowing attendees to find out more information and connect with one another. To finish the meeting on a festive note, we held a free Christmas raffle! Well done to all our raffle winners. Reflecting on the meeting, Belinda said: It was really great to see everyone this quarter. It was especially lovely to see some new faces and there was such an amazing turnout. The meeting was the best this year, witheveryone collaborating and networking, which is what these meetings are all about. We also got some great feedback, which is always helpful.
