b'Page 9Surrey Training Groups New GTO and June Meeting Meet our New Surrey Training Group Officer Were thrilled to welcome Belinda Jones onboard as the New Group Training Officer (GTO) for the Surrey Training Group! Belinda will leverage her expertise and insights from theconstruction industry to enrich the Group. Her role will be vital in guiding and assisting our members with the latest news on industry training grants and developments.She commented: I am excited to be taking on the GroupTraining Officer role as I love establishing strong networking links. I am a people person and like bringing people together and providing training solutions that fit business needs. I come from a HR and training background and have worked in the construction sector for 5 years.Belindas enthusiastic approach to this role and her construction experience will be key in advancing the Groups growth and development. Surrey Training Group Meeting - June 2024 In June, GTO Belinda held a Surrey Training Group meeting at our CISTC training centre at Natta Head Office. The morning began with our usual networking breakfast. Belinda opened the meeting, and introduced herself to the group, allowing her to meet and connect with our members for the first time. She also gave anoverview of the agenda and shared the latest news and updates from the Surrey Training Group. The guest speaker Candace Braby from Activate Learning then gave a presentation about Apprenticeship Courses and their associated benefits. She ran through grants and funding information and discussed the apprenticeships available at the Activate Learning Colleges. With apprenticeships being the number one route into the construction industry, the presentation provided valuable insights into opportunities forprofessional development for young people within our industry.About Activate Learning Activate Learning is a forward-thinking education group that aims for far-reaching, progressive change andimpact through learning. They work with students as individuals, helping them make the choice of career pathway or course thats right for them and their ambitions. After a quick coffee break, the agenda shifted to an update from Stephen Aluko from CITB. He shared the latest news and updates including the future needs of the industry.He discussed the new CITB portal. CITB supports theconstruction industry by attracting talent and fosteringskill development. We are grateful to our guest speakers and everyone whoattended the meeting.
