Our people

Natta is a family business that takes great pride in the opportunities, training and security that it offers its employees. We have strived to grow an open and fair environment which has created a loyal and hardworking workforce.

Equal Opportunities

Natta is an equal opportunities employer. We have developed a culture where all groups and individuals engaged in or affected by, the business are treated with the highest standards of integrity. We recruit personnel whose capability, experience and qualifications are appropriate to the positions available. Where practical we hope to achieve and maintain a workforce that broadly reflects the local community in which we operate.

Training

Our focus on training for the future both on-site and in the office has led us to achieve approved employer training status from the Institution of Civil Engineers and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. All of our staff are either CSCS and/or CPCS qualified. Our managers and supervisors are all SMSTS, SSSTS, NRSWA, NVQ and 4 day first aiders as a minimum. Most of the personnel in our commercial department are chartered and we have several post-graduates. We have high levels of staff retention, with one of the lowest staff turnovers in the industry.

Apprenticeships

We aim to recruit 5% of our workforce through apprenticeship and traineeship schemes; in partnership with local further education colleges. We also offer a plant apprenticeship scheme for developing young talented individuals. We currently employ 20 ICE trainees and 8 RICS trainees.

Health & Wellbeing

We are evolving our safety culture to encompass wider well-being in our workforce by involving yearly health and wellbeing checks, insurance and mentoring. We obtained ISO 45001 in 2019.

Communication

Staff inclusion via regular communication is important to Natta. All staff have access to a private intranet. Regularly all staff receive a company newsletter and are encouraged to provide innovative ideas and feedback to management. Regular e-mails, memos, safety notices and quality notices are circulated and management meet staff at weekly toolbox talks and weekly health and safety, quality and environmental alerts to share knowledge of good and bad practice to ensure continuous improvement.

Performance reviews are conducted regularly following standards set by Investors in People.
