OVERVIEW

Natta was awarded the role of Main Contractor by Avery Healthcare to deliver the full design and build of a 7,637m² Independent Living Community, The Hawthorns, in Northampton. The building comprises 61 Independent Living apartments of varying sizes and offers high-quality accommodation supported by a range of communal and wellbeing facilities. This includes cafes, restaurants and lounges, a cinema, a recreation bar, an indoor bowls green, a hair salon and a therapy spa, creating a comprehensive independent living environment for residents.

SCOPE OF WORKS

The site, situated on a slope, incorporates a semi-basement level with waterproof concrete retaining walls cut into the ground to provide structural stability and protection against ground moisture. Above this, a 400-tonne steel frame structure was constructed, supported by large reinforced pads on both lower and upper ground levels.

The four-storey structure is clad in a mixture of brick, glass, render, and copper cladding with a flat roof. Internally, the structure utilises a structural framing system, metalled floors with structural concrete topping, together with precast concrete stairs. The apartments are finished to a high standard with individual kitchenettes and bathrooms. Extensive communal and day space areas are provided with walnut feature furniture and associated high-end fittings. The scheme delivers a visually impressive design and also reflects a valued opportunity to contribute to its success.

Natta also celebrated success with the Avery Healthcare Group’s win at the 2019 Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. This highlighted the quality and full design and build of this completed scheme.
