New Covent Garden Market
OVERVIEW
Natta was awarded this project at the prestigious New Covent Garden Market by Vinci/St. Modwen. The works formed part of the wider redevelopment of the area and were delivered within a highly constrained urban environment. Specifically, the project included the construction of a new access road to the Apex Site, along with the delivery of a temporary footpath on Arch 42. Both were essential in enabling onward development while maintaining safe access for marketing operations and the public.
SCOPE OF WORKS
The scope of works involved a new road, associated enabling works, and also footpath diversions to facilitate the construction of three tower blocks within the redevelopment zone. Fundamentally, these works were critical in preparing the site and ensuring efficient movement around the market during the work.
The New Covent Garden Market project featured significant engagement with market traders, their suppliers and the public. The new Northern Line Station location was also located alongside our work zone, within the existing railway arches and public roads bordering the site.
As a result, the works required a high level of coordination with the stakeholders. Additionally, Natta worked closely with all parties to carefully plan, manage access, and maintain safety. This collaborative approach ensured that market operations continued smoothly while minimising disruption to the public.
Overall, the scheme highlights Natta’s capability to deliver complex enabling and infrastructure works. They were delivered within a live, high-profile urban environment, requiring technical expertise.
