OVERVIEW

Working as the housing infrastructure contractor, Natta carried out three phases at Napier Park in Luton for Redrow Homes (Eastern). Overall, the project provided 700 homes, forming a significant residential scheme within the area.

Napier Park sits on the former Vauxhall Plant factory site, following demolition and remediation completed in 2016/2017. The project required a phased, carefully coordinated approach to deliver the infrastructure and housing groundworks across the development.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Natta started the project for Redrow in June 2017. Phase 1 reached completion in October 2018. Phase 3, now completed, followed the delivery of plot externals and infrastructure surfacing. This phase also included piled foundations, retaining walls, roads, drainage, footpaths and a textomur wall.

Natta was responsible for all the housing infrastructure, groundworks, and a wide variety of retaining structures to accommodate the properties on the 37m high chalk hill.

The development design uses permeable road surfacing, while the housing plots utilise piled foundations suited to the ground conditions. The development follows a snaking path up a hill, which required careful and considerable logistics interfaces to ensure efficient delivery and safe site operations.

Overall, the Napier Park project demonstrates Natta’s capability as a housing infrastructure contractor, successfully delivering complex phased infrastructure and groundworks within challenging topography while maintaining programme efficiency and high construction standards.

Through careful planning, technical expertise, and effective coordination of logistics across multiple phases, Natta supported the smooth progression of the development and enabled the successful delivery of a large-scale residential scheme comprising approximately 700 new homes.
