Natta Awarded Modular Housing Contract by BoKlok UK

Natta Building has been awarded a new groundworks contract for a modular housing scheme by BoKlok UK for their upcoming development in Bristol.

The development, named ‘BoKlok on the Brook’, will consist of 77 one and two-bedroom apartments and 96 two and three-bedroom family homes. These will be available for market sale in Spring 2021, as well as being used as social housing for Bristol City Council. This is BoKlok’s first project in the UK having already built 12,000 homes throughout Sweden, Finland and Norway.

A first for us too, this is our first largescale groundworks project within the modular housing arena. As a package contractor, Natta is undertaking the earthworks, roads, drainage, foundations and external works. This project also includes a bridge, retaining walls and a box culvert. A perfect opportunity for us to showcase our high standard of workmanship; which will guarantee that the interface with the modular units will be seamless.  The programme delivery is key for the installation of the modular units and we are confident that our focus will enable us to deliver on time to the exacting tolerance levels required.  Natta is due to commence works from 30th November.

Matt Sainty, Commercial Director, Natta commented: “We are excited by the opportunity given us to by BoKlok to undertake their first modular UK project. Modular construction is an area that Natta has been targeting for some time. We feel that our experience of being able to offer a full turnkey package is advantageous to both parties and allows the modular homes producer to focus on the fastest delivery. We look forward to developing systems of working with them that will benefit future projects.”

About BoKlok

BoKlok was founded in the early 1990s when joint owners, IKEA and Skanska came together to offer sustainable, good quality, low-cost homeownership. Ikea is a world leader in functional homes whilst Skanska is a leading construction and project development company. Combined, BoKlok is focused on sustainable housing and do as much as possible to minimise their environmental impact. They do so by building in wood which is the most climate-neutral and natural building material. They recycle most of their leftover materials with less than 1% getting thrown away. Doing this makes their carbon footprint less than half that of normal building projects. This ties in perfectly with Natta’s Environmental Responsibility. We are known for handling projects with complex environmental issues and always aim to minimise the environmental impact of our building activities.
