OVERVIEW

This project, delivered for the Homes and Communities Agency, was for a waterfront development in Daedulus, Hampshire. Works comprised the construction of estate roads and footpaths, together with the installation of services infrastructure, deep drainage systems, a 9-metre-deep pump station, and associated landscaping works.

SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope was part of a major mixed-use waterfront development opportunity fronting the Solent, suitable for commercial, leisure and residential development. Developed for military purposes since 1917, the site forms part of the larger Daedalus Estate, 450 acres, which also includes an operational civilian airfield, a search and rescue facility operated by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, a college and a new Business Park.

As part of the infrastructure delivery, Natta undertook the guided auger boring of 300mm and 600mm diameter sewers, enabling the installation of deep drainage networks in challenging ground conditions. These works were carried out alongside the remediation of land, which involved managing and working safely with contaminated soils and groundwater resulting from the site’s former military use.

The project also included the installation of new water mains and high-voltage electrical services, together with the diversion of existing HV, LV, BT, and water services, ensuring compatibility with the new infrastructure layout. A key element of the scheme was the upgrade and expansion of Ross House Junction, including associated boundary modifications to improve the site access. Natta also installed over a kilometre of twin rising main across Daedalus airfield.

Overall, this project demonstrates Natta’s expertise in delivering complex infrastructure and deep drainage works within technically challenging environments, supporting the successful regeneration of a major waterfront development site.
