OVERVIEW

The contract was undertaken as the appointed Design and Build Main Contractor for our client, Standard Life Investments, with Christopher Smith Associates acting as PQS.

SCOPE OF WORKS

The works involved extending the Service Yard of the Brakes Brothers Distribution Centre to provide access to new dock levellers, recharging points, and an access road.

Throughout the project, the works were carefully planned to maintain full access for the 24/7 operation of the Distribution Centre. Following the removal of 7,000 m³ of earth and the existing sheet-piled retaining wall, extensive new precast retaining walls were installed, together with steel canopies and an associated adoptable deep foul drainage diversion. These works enabled the construction of 3,600m of pav 2 concrete hardstanding, formed using high-strength industrial-grade concrete designed to withstand heavy vehicle movements and continuous operational loading.

The team handed over the works in line with the agreed programme and budget. We received a glowing endorsement from the client. Overall, the successful completion of this scheme highlights Natta’s experience in delivering industrial infrastructure and service yard upgrades, supporting live operational environments through careful planning, coordination, and high-quality construction.
