Huxley Court, Alresford – Residential Units
OVERVIEW
Natta delivered the Huxley Court development in Alresford under a full design and build contract for Vivid Homes, comprising a total of 45 residential units. The scheme consists of two blocks of five two-bedroom terraced townhouses, alongside 35 two and three-bedroom apartments arranged across three apartment blocks. The apartment buildings incorporate undercroft parking, providing efficient vehicle storage while maximising usable space across the site.
SCOPE OF WORKS
The project commenced with the demolition phase in May 2020, which involved the removal of existing warehouse buildings and an office block that previously occupied the site. The team carried out these enabling works to prepare the site for redevelopment and allow the subsequent construction phases to proceed.
Following demolition, groundworks and remediation works began in June 2020. The site’s sloping topography required extensive bulk excavation to reduce the incline and create suitable development platforms. This phase required careful planning and sequencing to manage levels across the site and to support the layout of the proposed buildings. Once regrading was complete, work progressed to the construction of internal roads and the installation of foundations.
The next phase involved the superstructure build. We constructed the townhouses using traditional masonry methods, with block-and-beam ground floors and precast plank upper floors. The apartment buildings utilised a combination of steel frame construction, with block and beam ground floors and precast plank upper floors, all finished with external masonry walls to provide a consistent appearance across the development.
In addition to the residential buildings, a new footpath was constructed to provide a direct pedestrian link from the development down to the adjacent recreation park, improving connectivity and access to local amenities for future residents.
Overall, the Huxley Court project demonstrates the successful delivery of a complex residential scheme involving demolition, remediation, bulk earthworks, and mixed construction methodologies.
