Woking & Sam Beare Hospice Well-being Garden

On Saturday 14th October, Natta was delighted to help Woking & Sam Beare Hospice (WSBH) build a new well-being garden. Previously we have developed two gardens, including a Japanese Garden for the charity. WSBH is one of our three nominated charities. All materials and labour were generously provided by Natta.

The garden will serve as a tranquil and relaxing space for staff to enjoy all year round. Providing them with an open space where they can take a well-deserved break in the fresh air away from their desks.

The day involved various manual tasks to bring the well-being garden to life. The team began with the removal of debris, we then levelled and compacted the type 1 base. Next, wooden sleepers were placed around the garden perimeter and filled with topsoil in preparation for planting the flowerbeds in the spring. White chipping stones were then distributed and compacted down. Once the foundations were complete, the wooden pergola was built and erected and the block paving was laid. We used a sleeper kerb to secure the block paving in place. This has provided a lovely centrepiece for the garden.

Natta’s Managing Director, John Whelan, commented: “This is the third garden Natta has had the opportunity to build for the hospice. I was delighted to be personally involved and work as part of the team on the garden. We all worked hard and turned it around in one day.

We see first-hand the incredibly demanding work that the staff provide to the patients here, so we were delighted to give back and build them this relaxing outdoor space where they can have a break and unwind when needed.”

Woking & Sam Beare Hospices Fundraising Director, Phil Wormley also said: “This is now the third garden you have delivered for the hospice and as always it has been delivered with such professionalism, efficiency and with amazing outcomes, that I can only be incredibly grateful and moved by the generosity of you and your company. It is a space that I know colleagues here have literally been desperate to have for several years now and therefore it is greatly needed and it really will make a massive difference to staff well-being.”

About Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Well-being Care

Woking and Sam Beare Hospice provide holistic care for approximately 2,000 patients each year with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. They also support their families. Their experts deliver 8,760 hours of care every year.

This year we also donated £9,500 to support the charity as part of our annual Natta Golf Day. As well as this Natta took part in the charity’s annual Dragon Boat Race for the fourth year.

Fulfilling our social values pledge and working with local communities and charities is important to us. We thoroughly enjoyed building this garden for one of our local nominated charities. Thank you to the fantastic team for all of your help and hard work! We hope the hospice staff enjoy their time spent in this lovely garden.
