Huxley Court

OVERVIEW
The Huxley Court development in Alresford was the full design and build contract of 45 units for Vivid Homes. The housing development is comprised of: 2 blocks of 5 two-bedroom terraced townhouses and 35 two and three-bedroom apartments split across 3 apartment blocks with undercroft parking.SCOPE OF WORKS
The demolition phase commenced in May 2020. This involved the removal of warehouses and an office block, which were originally situated on the site. The groundworks and remediation works then started that June. As Huxley Court is situated on a sloping site, extensive bulk excavation works was undertaken to reduce the incline. This was then followed by road works and foundations.
Then came the superstructure build. Traditional masonry walls, block and beam ground floor and plank upper floors were used to build the townhouses. The apartments are a mix of steel frames, with block and beam ground floors and plank upper floors all with external masonry walls.
A new footpath was also built to lead from the development down to the recreation park.
This development saw our second project involving Vivid Homes. It followed on from our main contractor build of 49 units at Ewshot Gardens in Church Crookham. Here 20 of the units were for Sentinel Housing Association, now known as Vivid Homes following its merger with First Wessex HA.
