Astbury Manor – Care Home Construction
OVERVIEW
This project involved the construction of a 64-bed care home facility, initially planned with Natta appointed as the main contractor to deliver a shell and core contract. During the course of the project, Natta received a further appointment to undertake the full fit-out works, enabling completion under a single coordinated approach. The team completed the care home successfully in June 2017.
SCOPE OF WORKS
Astbury Manor was delivered using traditional construction methods, including piled foundations, wide-span concrete plank floors, a brick and blockwork external skin, as well as a tiled pitched roof to provide a durable, robust structure suited to long-term care use. These elements formed a key part of the overall care home construction strategy, ensuring longevity and performance.
Additionally, a key architectural feature of the building included a full-height glass entrance atrium and stone feature courses, adding complexity to the construction process. This required careful coordination to achieve the desired finish and ensure structural integration.
Following the completion of the shell-and-core phase, Natta delivered the full internal fit-out, bringing the building up to the required operational standards for a modern care facility.
As a result, the quality of the completed development was recognised within the sector, with Astbury Manor being shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Best New Care Home (Higher Development Budget) category at the 2019 Pinders Awards.
Overall, the project demonstrates Natta’s capability in delivering both structural and fit-out phases of care home developments, ensuring continuity, quality, and successful project delivery from construction through to completion.
