Bloom Statue Installation at Upper Longcross

Natta are pleased to announce the successful installation of the Bloom Statue for Crest Nicholson.

On Sunday the 4th of March, Natta carried out the supervision and installation planning of the large Bloom Statue at Upper Longcross. The foundations (lower base, upper base, filling of the roundabout) as well as the topsoil backfilled around the foundations and electrical enabling works were also constructed by Natta.

Visible from the M3, the beautiful Bloom can be seen by anyone passing through. This statue is situated in the centre of the roundabout before the main entrance bellmouth to Longcross Studios.

Tom Rowson, Project Manager from Crest Nicholson commented, “The entire operation went smoothly and without issues. This is thanks to the great design of the structure and the careful and thoughtful planning of the day.”

Here is a short time-lapse video of the Bloom Statue lift.

The Bloom statue installation is part of an ongoing project with Crest Nicholson.

Paul Magennis, Contracts Manager from Natta commented, “A big thank you to all who contributed to Longcross Bloom Statue.’’

The Upper Longcross project started 3 years ago where Natta was contracted by Crest Nicholson. The contract involves the infrastructure and groundworks to a 108-unit residential scheme. The project has required extensive coordination in maintaining the production on site, whilst not interfering with: filming at Longcross Studios, test driving at the race track and maintaining access to other tenants and new purchasers.

Our scope is the entire groundworks and infrastructure up to and including ground floors. This encompasses all: roads, drainage, hard landscaping, vibro piling together with superstructure foundation, block work, beam and block floors.

This project contributed to Natta being awarded ‘Large Sub Contractor of the Year 2017’ by Crest Nicholson.

The quality of the works that Natta delivered can be seen in the video below.

The Bloom

Designed by Wolfgang Buttress Studio from Labes House in Nottingham. Wolfgang explained that the Bloom is a simple idea, welcoming and a contemporary sculptural intervention.

The sculpture is able to change colour through the viewers’ movement. This is expressed through the real-time position of the sun and sculpture together with up lighters during the night, making the Bloom stunningly visible any time of the day.
