RAF Base Uxbridge
OVERVIEW
Natta was appointed to undertake the construction of the on site spine roads and drainage infrastructure, together with two adoptable 278 junctions connecting to Hillingdon Road, at a former RAF base in Uxbridge. The two junctions comprised a four-way signalised bellmouth junction and a new roundabout. The design and construction met adoptable highway standards.
SCOPE OF WORKS
The onsite spine roads were constructed to full adoptable standards, and incorporated extensive service corridors to accommodate utilities required for future development phases. In addition, the works included the installation of high-quality kerbing, paved footpaths, paved speed tables, tree pits, soft landscaping and street lighting. This ensured the roads were fully compliant and suitable for long-term adoption.
Natta also delivered comprehensive site-wide drainage infrastructure, including the installation of crate attenuation tanks, as well as the construction of open balancing ponds and swales. This provided effective and sustainable surface water management across the development.
The delivery of the Section 278 junction works required extensive traffic management planning and close liaison with Hillingdon Council, ensuring the safety of road users and minimising disruption to the surrounding area. Acting as an infrastructure contractor, Natta coordinated and delivered the works to meet all local authority requirements.
Our collaborative approach ensured the successful delivery of the project, with close coordination with the various stakeholders, which includes third-party house builders and the local residents. This strong working relationship led to Natta securing additional infrastructure packages as the development progressed, including further road construction, parks, play areas, bulk earthworks, and piling mats.
Furthermore, Natta was also awarded contracts to deliver new site roads for Persimmon Homes, supporting their residential development parcels within the wider site. Subsequently, these ongoing works further demonstrate Natta’s capability and reliability as an infrastructure contractor supporting large-scale, phased developments.
